Autologous Fat Grafting
Autologous fat grafting, or simply “fat grafting,” refers to using a patient’s own fat from one area of the body to enhance a different area. The fat is obtained using traditional liposuction, then transferred to syringes and injected using specialized techniques into other areas of the body. Fat grafting allows the surgeon to restore natural volume to the face, breast, buttocks or other areas.
One of the components of facial aging is loss of fat from the temples, cheeks, lips and eye area. Very fine cannulas can be used to inject fat back into these areas to restore a natural youthful fullness. This is often done in combination with a facelift or blepharoplasty as part of facial rejuvenation. Fat grafting using very small particles of fat known as “nano-fat” can be used to improve some skin conditions, such as acne scars, or areas of previous surgery and scarring.
At The Sandel Duggal Center for Plastic Surgery we offer a variety of procedures to sculpt and shape every aspect of your body. We take an individualized approach to each patient and am able to tailor each surgery or combination of surgeries depending on personal goals.
