Neck and Chin Liposuction
A procedure requested by many of our younger patients is liposuction of the neck and jawline. This is a simple procedure designed to contour the neckline and remove fullness and unwanted fat. Patients get great results when the skin has enough elasticity to contract and tighten after the fat has been removed. The procedure takes less than 30 minutes and can be done under a local anesthesia. The results are permanent.
This procedure is great for younger patients who have not lost much skin elasticity. If the too much excess skin is present, a lower facelift or necklift may be recommended.
Before & After
Specific surgical techniques
Neck liposuction is a simple procedure performed in our state-of-the-art facility West Annapolis Surgery Center. Patients are brought to the procedure room, where a local anesthetic is used to numb the skin in the neck. Tiny incisions are made under the chin and behind the ears. A small suction cannula is inserted and used to removed the excess fat and tighten the overlying skin. The incisions are closed with fine suture to minimize scars. A light cotton wrap is used for support the first night after the procedure.
After the surgery
A light cotton wrap is placed for support the first night after the surgery. Ice and head elevation is used to minimize swelling and bruising. Patients are brought back to the office after 7 days to remove sutures. You will see the effects of the surgery the first day after the cotton wrap is removed. Many patients return to work a few days after the procedure.
